An American Original

An American Original

To close the Brevard Symphony Orchestra’s 2014-15 season, we present a special performance of the Second Symphony by the truly original American composer Charles Ives. Ives had a vivid musical imagination, which is definitely on display in this amazing symphony. In the Second Symphony, Ives brings many different melodies that shaped him as aa young musician – influences from great symphonic composers and the folk tunes, hymns, patriotic songs and popular songs of America at the dawn of the 20th Century.
