The Brevard Symphony Orchestra Takes Flight – November 22

The Brevard Symphony Orchestra takes flight with two colorful Russian ballet scores when the Orchestra presents its second subscription concert of the season at the King Center for the Performing Arts on November 22, 2014. This mesmerizing program will feature the beauty and poignancy of Pytor Illyich Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite and followed by the magical sounds of Igor Stravinsky’s first masterpiece – The Firebird Suite. The first half of the concert will feature music from Romania, including Ion Ivanovici’s familiar Waves of the Danube and two works for solo violin featuring Romanian violinist Daniel Szasz – Ciprian Porumbescu’s Ballade and Georges Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody. This concert also marks the world premiere of Charlie Harmon’s arrangement of Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody.

The BSO Returns to Titusville – Nov. 9

Fresh off their 2014-2015 subscription season opener, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra heads to Titusville for a special fall concert on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Titusville High School Performing Arts Center. Music director and principal conductor Christopher Confessore leads the orchestra in this intimate performance of beloved classics and familiar favorites. “We appreciate the opportunity to have this wonderful musical experience once again in our community,” said BSO Board Chair Ann-Marie Brush. “A Gift of Music – Fall Concert” will feature Bizet’s famous Carmen Suite No. 1, Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld Overture and Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture. Comprised of talented students from Astronaut, Space Coast and Titusville High Schools, the North Brevard Honor Chorus will join the Orchestra during the second half of the performance for music by Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers and more. Concert begins at 3:00pm.

The Brevard Symphony Orchestra Opens the 2014-2015 Concert Season

Dvořák’s thrilling New World Symphony highlights the Brevard Symphony Orchestra’s 2014-2015 season opener on Saturday, October 25th at the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. In celebration of the Star Spangled Banner’s 200th Anniversary in 2014, this American-inspired season-opener will begin with Dudley Buck’s Festival Overture on the American National Air. Following this tribute to the National Anthem, American composer Howard Hanson’s Piano Concerto will be played by featured pianist and Hanson Scholar, Scott Watkins. The concert closes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor – From the New World, which has in its heart qualities often associated with America: ruggedness, openness, brassiness, and confidence. Join the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, EGAD (Eau Gallie Arts District) and the King Center for the Performing Arts as we present the Fall Cultural Arts Showcase 2014 on Sunday, September 21st at the King Center for the Performing Arts from noon to 6:00pm. This event is FREE for the entire family. Visitors will enjoy special performances throughout the day from your favorite arts groups, including two FREE family concerts featuring Your Brevard Symphony Orchestra at 2pm and 4pm. You will also have a chance to learn about, and experience, the cultural arts along the Space Coast.
