The six week-long exhibition will begin with an exclusive VIP reception on November 5th at the Museum. The Foosaner galleries will shine brightly with a magnificent exhibition of stained glass lamps and wall pieces created by Preston Studios. The evening will include a cocktail reception, live music and a charity auction of two original glassworks donated by the Melbourne-based artists. Proceeds benefit the Brevard Symphony Orchestra and the Foosaner Art Museum. Event begins at 6:00pm. Tickets are $75 per person and are available for purchase by calling (321) 674-8916 or online at www.foosanerartmuseum.org. In continued celebration of Preston Studios’ 40th anniversary, the exhibition will be on view to the public through December 31st. Admission is free.
“The Foosaner is thrilled to partner with the B.S.O. and also to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Preston Studios. Preston Studios has been a vital part of Brevard’s art community and longtime supporters of the museum; it’s wonderful to be able to showcase their beautiful stained glass in our galleries,” said Carla Funk, Director of University Museums for Florida Institute of Technology.
Preston Studios was founded by Jerry Preston and John Emery in November 1976 and forty years later have developed an internationally-acclaimed body of work. Works by Preston Studios have adorned the homes of celebrity collectors like the late Allen Neuharth and George Plimpton and, also, local movers and shakers like Christopher Burton, Bryan Roub and Dr. Larry Bishop. Adorning over 150 entrances along the Space Coast, Preston Studios glass can also be found in Winter Park, Bayhill, Isleworth, Bella Collina, Boca Raton, and Ft. Myers. Based in Melbourne, Preston Studios has a long-standing relationship with local charitable organizations, helping raise over $40,000 in three years with their donation of original stained glass lamps.
“It is very exciting to collaborate with two amazing creative forces, the Foosaner Art Museum and Preston Studios, to offer our community this wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautiful art!” said BSO Executive Director Fran Delisle.
The Foosaner Art Museum, 1463 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, features changing exhibitions of nationally and internationally recognized art. The museum also draws from its permanent collection of over 5,000 objects to present exhibitions relevant to the community and revealing of art historical movements.
